Tips to Consider

Remodeling your home can be very exciting! Sure there is some chaos involved, but in the end it really is all worth it.

Here are some tips to better help you through the process.

1. Timing. We usually say to be sure to time your project during a time that you are comfortable with contractors being in and out of your home. But with the amount of damage the winter storm left so many homes, we would like to add that there are many contractors, us included, that are booked out for months in advance even if the home has no damage and is just in wanting of a new remodeling project.

Regardless of when you are able to schedule your project, keep in mind that your day to day lifestyle is also for you to consider. If, for example, you know you have a really big project or deadline at work during that time, the stress alone can be very overwhelming for you. Although we try to be as clean and polite in every project, construction is construction, and its not very ideal to be having stress at work and stress at home.

2. Write it all down. From the beginning, have a plan or goal for your remodeling project. Things you have researched, notes, even pictures on Pinterest are great ways to determine exactly how you would like this project to look like in the end. You can even take a look at all of our project pictures on our website and on all our social media. We recommend you make a list (maybe even on your phone) of items that you will be needing to purchase and by when. For example, if you choose a sink feature outside of the ones we provide, make it a point to remind yourself to purchase it by the date it’s needed. So many little things are sometimes left for last minute, and that doesn’t have to be the case. Planning properly allows that your bathroom or kitchen remodeling project goes as smoothly as possible!

3. There will always be set-backs when you do a remodeling or home improvement project. They may be small or they may completely put the project on hold. Either way, its very likely that they will occur. Keep an open mind and be very allowing on this. As general contractors, we do our best to handle items if and when they come up to the best of our ability always. Sometimes all it takes it to make a call to one of our guys or purchase an item that will resolve the issue. It’s all part of the game, however, the more flexible and allowing you are throughout the process, the easier we can get any set-back resolved.

4. Hire the right contractor for your job. Of course, we’d love to be your remodeling contractor, but if for some reason you are still looking at other contractors in the area, keep in mind of a few things. In order to find the right contractor for your project, go over their reviews on Google, browser their website, carefully look at their project pictures, ask if they are licensed and insured, ask for client feedback. Also, get a feel for their personalities because after all they will be working in your home. Good, reputable and honest contractors are out there. Be sure to select the best one for your home remodeling project.

There are so many other items that we can discuss, but I’ll leave you here with those 4. As mentioned above, if we still haven’t worked on your home for your home remodeling project, we’d be honored to serve you!
